Mold Infestation in Your House

Mold formation can appear in your house whenever a part of your house gets drenched in water for a few days, or even a few weeks. Molds thrive in dark and moist places so you’ll usually find them underneath your sinks or even your basement. Mold infestation can actually hurt the value of your house and even has an effect on your health. So what should you do once you find a mild in your home?

  1. Have Your Home Tested by a Trained Mold Tester

You have to know what type of mold you’re dealing with. So you might want to try to hire an expert from Utah to do some mold testing on your house. If it’s just some patches of mold, then you may try to clean it yourself. However, if it already looks worse than patches, then try considering to hire a removal service instead.

  1. Identify the Cause of the Mold

Make sure to fix the cause of the mild infestation during cleanup. This will prevent the mold from returning. If there as a leak in your sink or on your roof, have it repaired right away. If the humidity level is set too high, make sure to turn it lower. Mold prefers areas with high humidity.

  1. Get in Touch with Your Insurance Company

Ask your insurance provider if mold infestation is covered by your insurance. If not, you might start looking for an exterminator instead.

  1. Hire a Professional

Once you have the mold test results and have spoken to the mold tester, ask if you can remove the mold on your own or if you need to hire an expert to do it. If it’s really in a bad shape, then try hiring an expert from Salt Lake City, but if it’s something that you can do on your own, then you can try to do it yourself. However, if you’re going to hire a professional, make sure that you ask how much the estimated cost is going to be to make sure that you wouldn’t have any problems with it. You should choose a company that you believe will do a great job or someone who has been endorsed by your family and friends.

  1. As soon as the mold has been removed, you can try to ask the tester to come back again and do an air test for any mold. This will help determine if the levels of the mold in your house is still acceptable. Remember that it’s almost impossible to completely remove all the mold in your home. The main priority would be to get the level of mold in your home identical to the mold level outside your home.
