A lot of different home styles come and go. But there are some home styles that are still widely available up until this day. Getting a Georgia house is a very expensive purchase. Craftsman style is usually bungalows that feature exteriors that are usually a combination of stone and woods. According to some contractors in Georgia, Craftsman style is inspired by the early 20th century arts and crafts movement during the Industrial Revolution. Craftsman Style is inspired by nature and decorative arts.
Country Style is also popularly known as Colonial style. Its aesthetics is greatly influenced by the 18th-century colonists and are recognizable for its two windows on their side of the front door. It also usually has five windows on top and a middle window just above the front door. It usually has wide porches, shutters, wood detailing, and dormers.
European style is almost the same with houses from France, Italy and England. It’s designed to look old but durable and are made of materials such marble, plaster walls, high-quality stone floors and have massive fireplaces. Its exteriors usually have copper roof elements and rooflines. Some even use stones on its exteriors to add to its style.
Ranch styles are homes that are usually found from the West and Southwest area of the country. It has now become quite popular across the United States, even in Georgia. Although this style is usually found in the country, any style that resembles that of a ranch house can be considered as a ranch style. This type of home style was quite popular during the 1950s and the 60’s.
Another home style that was very popular during the 1950s and the 1960s is the modern style. Modern houses usually have flat or lower slope roofs, large yet simple fireplace, and horizontal windows. Houses that are inspired by this design usually uses materials such as wood floors, stone, and even marbles. Its overall aesthetics are composed of clean lines and are very minimalist.
Southern style is designed to adapt to the hot and humid Southern climate. It usually has elevated main living levels to take advantage of cool breezes. It also has wrapped- around porches, wide roof overhands, large operable shutters, and verandas. This type of home style is inspired by houses during the 19th century when Plantation houses are still predominant.
